Technician Tool

Airflow, CFM & static pressure

Calculate duct airflow from measured velocity, convert tonnage and a chosen CFM-per-ton target into total airflow, and calculate total external static pressure for field diagnosis.

Airflow from duct velocity

Duct CFM calculator

Enter the duct size and an average measured air velocity. The tool converts the duct area to square feet and calculates CFM.

Enter the duct dimensions and average velocity to calculate CFM.

A single velocity reading can misrepresent actual duct airflow. Use an appropriate traverse or measurement method for the duct and instrument whenever accuracy matters.

Airflow target helper

Tonnage × CFM per ton

Enter the equipment tonnage and the airflow target you want to use. Use the manufacturer setup data or design requirement for the actual target. Do not assume one CFM-per-ton value fits every application.

Enter tonnage and the chosen CFM-per-ton target.

Airside resistance

Total external static pressure

Enter supply static as a positive value and enter the return static as its positive magnitude. The tool adds both magnitudes to calculate total external static pressure.

Enter supply and return static pressure to calculate TESP.

Static pressure does not directly equal CFM. Compare TESP with the exact blower table, tap/programmed airflow, filter/coil pressure drops, and OEM limits for the installed equipment.
