Safety & Disclaimers
This site is a field reference. Use the equipment manual, site procedures, applicable codes, and your own field judgment.
High voltage
Line-voltage and control circuits can injure or kill. De-energize, verify zero energy, and follow lockout/tagout before servicing.
Rotating equipment
Blowers, condenser fans, and motors can start automatically. Keep hands and tools clear and disable auto-start where possible.
Pressurized refrigerant
Refrigerant systems operate at high pressure and can cause frostbite or blindness. Wear the required PPE and never vent refrigerant. Recover it in accordance with EPA Section 608.
Combustion systems
Gas appliances risk carbon monoxide, fire, and explosion. Verify combustion, venting, and gas pressure with proper instruments.
Educational use only
All content on this site, including the troubleshooter, fault-code library, knowledge base, refrigerant reference, and community field cases, is provided for general educational and reference purposes. It may not apply to your specific equipment, configuration, or local conditions. Always follow the manufacturer's installation and service documentation, applicable building and mechanical codes, and your employer's safety procedures.
Field archive is case-specific, not manufacturer documentation
Published field cases are anonymized summaries of service notes that have been edited for clarity. Their readings describe specific equipment under specific conditions; they are not universal targets, setpoints, or official manufacturer procedures. Verify every model-specific step against current service literature.
Required practices
- Proper personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Lockout/tagout before servicing
- Applicable refrigerant handling regulations
- Manufacturer documentation and specs
- Local codes and permitting
- Combustion and CO verification
Use only procedures you are trained, qualified, and authorized to perform. You are responsible for following site-specific safety requirements and determining whether a reference applies to the equipment in front of you.
